The IEEE publishes standards on many topics relevant to software quality. The standards themselves are available for purchase at a significant price. You may be able to reference them at no charge at your local library.

DODSSP.DAPS.MIL (not www). This is the Department of Defense Single Stock Point web site and contains public domain documents that can be accessed free as .pdf from the site. Use ASSIST and QUICK SEARCH, or for a more in-depth search, apply for a free account.

WWW.FDA.GOV/CDRH The Food and Drug Administration has strong software quality requirements and has published a number of guidance documents which can be found using their search engine at this site. It also gives you several national or international standards if you search using the keyword SOFTWARE.

WWW.NIST.GOV The National Institute of Standards and technology is chartered to provide resources that will help the US be more competitive. Their web site includes a software resource category that includes free tools, among other things.

WWW.GLOBAL.IHS.COM Most standards-writing organizations are backing out of issuing paper standards as fast as they can, and Global Information Services is the US clearinghouse for their standards. A search of their holdings will tap most of the global standards organizations together. If a standard has been written on software quality, it will likely show up on their search engine.

WWW.ANSI.ORG/INTERNET_RESOURCES The American National Standards Institute has a list of US standards-writing organizations which includes organizations in the IT community.
